This programme is designed for learners considering a trades pathway.

Course Overview

This programme is designed for learners considering a trades pathway, particularly in the building & construction industries, or have a general interest in this area. There are 2 options available:

  • Option 1  completing the BCITO unit standards which don’t require a construction  project (- no workshop space required). A student can gain up 30+ L1  & 2 credits

  • Option 2 involves the completion of a construction project which allows students to complete additional or alternative BCITO unit standards  Access to a workshop area is essential and local teacher/tutor is required to ‘verify’ the practical work meets the requirements. of projects, and ensure the health and safety requirements

My teaching experience, both at school or online is extensive. I have had other jobs like driver tester, Professional photographer,managed motels, driven buses to name a few. I am experienced with the wood / metal trades as well as Graphics DVC, laser cutting,CAD, Word processing just to name a few. I see myself as a coach or facilitator to get you over the line with marketable skills. Whanau involvement is encouraged. I like to see the funny side of life and know that there is always a solution for any problem. Life is about problem solving and decision making based upon research and making good choices. I believe that the more essential skills you have the greater you are "Pandemic Proof", employable and more content within yourself. Stay positive with me; Damer Farrell
