This course follows on from the introductory semester to the Japanese language and culture. Students will be able to understand and use simple language while learning to read and write in the Hiragana script.

Konnichi wa. My name is Rebecca Wilson and I have been teaching Japanese and Mathematics for the past 20 years. I am currently the Head of Languages at Fiordland College in Te Anau. I am passionate about the Japanese culture and language and love sharing this with my students. I live in Te Anau with my family and enjoy movies, reading and crafting.

Course Details

Understand and communicate in simple Japanese in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Begin reading and writing in the Hiragana script.
Develop an understanding and an appreciation of Japan, of its country, its people, their way of life and their values.
Experience a positive and enjoyable experience of learning a new language and culture.

Learning Languages
Ability to read and write the 46 Hiragana symbols, as well as completion of Jap015 or prior knowledge of the Japanese language.
